Every day, the sea brings us its gifts. From algae, in large quantities growing at the bottom, get nutritious flour and bake bread.
In many countries, soups, salads and marinades are prepared from them. Soaps and medicines are also made from algae.
Oil
Geologists find oil deposits in the sea under the earth’s crust. To get this valuable raw material, a platform with an oil rig is being built on the sea shelf, a well is being drilled and oil is pumped to the surface with pumps.
Fish
At the marina, fishermen unload baskets filled with fish. At night they threw nets, and in the morning they picked them up and sorted the fish by type and size. Now they will carry baskets to the market to sell their catch.
Salt
Another gift from the sea is salt. By evaporating sea water in huge bathtubs, crystalline salt is obtained and raked in heaps. Edible salt, acids, paints and medicines are prepared from it.
Sea water contains gold! It is dissolved in water, like salt, but in much smaller quantities.
Interesting fact: in northern Europe there are countries where it would seem to be very cold, but the climate there is mild and warm. Why? Because the coast is washed by the Gulf Stream - a sea current that brings warm water here from the equator.
